We’re back with more “best of” from the 36 straight months I was amassing those “In the News” links — fun, relevant, or simply bizarre tidbits on the (then) current state of sex and games. This is the second in my three-part “Hey, remember when that happened?” series.
As I’ve been going through old links, I’ve been surprised at how many now lead to defunct sites. Maybe I shouldn’t be, given the topic at hand, but I’ve also had plenty of “Hey, remember that?” moments myself. A lot of the sites I used to read and enjoy have totally disappeared.
On with the spring cleaning…
Microsoft hires pretty ladies to pose as attractive gamers. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Microsoft (5/05). em>WoW higher-ups ax an LGBT guild, then give the gaming community a well-deserved apology (1/06). In another wave of Blizzard brilliance, a bug in World of Warcraft sets loose an unintended wave of crossdressing (9/06). Boy who likes boys exist in Bully. Boys who like boys rejoice (10/06). Police catching predators in virtual worlds enlist the help of gamers (12/06).
Wow, looking at these dates, I’m starting to feel super old. How did it get to be 2009? Have I really been doing this job for four+ years? I can already see myself old and wrinkly, sitting in a rocker and telling my grand kids “I remember when stories” about sex and games. Will they care? Probably not. Will I care whether they care. Heck no.

Hi Bonnie,
It’s great to see all these old links thanks for compiling them. I especially love the one about Microsoft prettifying up their conference!
Best,

You’re very welcome. It’s half fun to look back and see how much things have changed, half fun to look back and see how much they haven’t :).
