December 25th, 2008

Hey, Heroine Sheik readers. My apologies for being conspicuously absent for, wow, like a week and a half. As mentioned in my last post (in which I was trying to give you a free copy of Mirror’s Edge! Do you all have it already, or does nobody own a PS3?) I went in for surgery on 12/16. After mostly recovering — i.e. slowly fighting my way through the Vicodin haze — unfortunately I was struck with another, unrelated, but equally serious medical mishap that put me right back in the hospital. Needless to say, the internet and I haven’t been super close lately, plus now it’s the holidays. That means I’ll be off again until 1/5, as I’m sure many of you are too, unless of course posts start randomly appearing between now and then, in which case I’m lying. So yeah, Happy Hanukah, Merry Xmas, Happy New Year’s: all that good stuff. Here’s what we’ve missed (you and me both, people) while I’ve been gone:

“Keep It Simple: Basic Games Have Widespread Appeal,” in which I talk to the heads of Zynga and Popcap about the success of casual/social games during the recession (The Economist).

What I Want for the Eight Nights of Hanukah,” in which go all kid-in-a-candy-store over things I’ll never get (Heartless Doll lists).

“10 Best and Worst Ideas for Decorating Your Snowman,” in which I explain the proper and improper uses of carrots (Heartless Doll lists).

Some posts of mine from elsewhere to get you into the sexy holiday spirit:
Hanukah has started. Let the lameness begin.
Second Life movie = worst idea ever
OMG You Made That? Christmas Lights Edition
‘The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty’: Anne Rice erotica
Santacons unleash Santas on the world
Daily Bedpost gets shut down

Oh, and if you need really, really last-minute holiday gifts, the final round of WIGI auctions is running now until mid-day Saturday, 12/27. Check it out and bid bid bid. See you guys in 2009!
