Fellow gamers, I can’t be the only one who feels like they’d rather be punched in the face so as to be rendered unconscious than have to be awake for the next 36 hours of suspense over tomorrow’s election. If Obama wins, I’ll be unimaginably happy. If McCain wins, I’ll be unimaginably sad. Either way, I won’t know what to do with myself. Since I’m a Pennsylvania resident living in California, my absentee ballot is already cast. All I can do now is sit back and try not to think about the future of the country.
Do you feel this way, too? What better way is there to keep your mind off current events, aside from getting in a fist fight? Gaming, of course! Here then are some of my personal suggestions for making the time fly between now and the moment the final verdict comes down…
- Fallout 3: I haven’t played it yet, but it’s sitting on my TV stand as we speak, promising to work like some sort of drug that makes me forget about the outside world.
- Little Big Planet: I don’t even own this one, but if I did I bet I could spend from now until tomorrow building levels and gaping at the game’s adorableness.
- Spore: Just start the whole damn thing over. Create a new account. Election Day will be over before you know it while you’re still trying to rebuild your once great race.
Oh and fingers crossed, people!

As long as folks don’t forget to vote entirely. In fact, I think you’ve got the right idea – considering how many games always come out in late October, perhaps gamers should always consider voting absentee!
