For those of us psyched for the upcoming Hello Kitty Online MMO, Wired points out a new trailer for the game that makes it look surprisingly epic, with pets to train and farms to run — all far more complicated than your average, Club Penguin-style kids virtual world.

While there doesn’t seem to be any trace of the fighting mechanic I was so looking forward to, and avatars look unoriginal and human (I was hoping to be a Sanrio character), I was blown away by one part of the trailer: Hello Kitty has a voice. That adorable, mute, mouth-less symbol for all that is good and silent hasn’t acquired an oral orifice, but she can apparently speak. Granted, that means we have to listen to her high-pitched voice sell us on her game, but hot damn, it’s like magic! Maybe now that she has vocal cords she’ll go into a feminist rant about her repressive life of cuteness.
