As of today, I’m officially a Bay Area resident.

Yes, after graduating school in New York, working for the Voice in the city, teaching hooligans for eight months in France, and hightailing it back to Philadelphia for a few weeks with the family/friends, I’ve finally made it to San Francisco, my new home. Fingers crossed I get to keep this one for a while. If I never see another airplane drink cart, it’ll be too soon.

Reasons why I’m psyched to be in San Fran: frolicking around the Metreon–land of the PlayStation store, an awesome fanboy shop, and this light sensing pad meant for kids where you can play soccer ball-less soccer; retail therapy at Apple in Cupertino; the sheer number of rainbow flags blowing in the wind; the chance to be a semi-real person. Woot.

Thanks, guys! I’m officially here safe and sound and getting settled in. Any recommendations for awesome sexy and/or video game-y things to do in free moments?

The only arcade in the entire city is at the Metreon. It lacks DDR, and it’s air hockey table is out of commission 50% of the time…

Having said that, there are a ton of conventions that happen all the time. There’s Dave and Buster’s across the bay (18+ arcade), and if you haven’t seen a life-sized Big Daddy, I recommend heading down to Game Stop on Powell.

Good vibrations (a short walk from 16th street BART) is a great toy store– assuming you’re into sex-positive toy stores. I seem to recall that they have a game section.
