This week in games, we hang our heads and mark the anniversary of the old-school Electronics Entertainment Expo, which would have been going on now in L.A. E3, with all your flashy lights and half-naked booth babes and swag swag swag, you will be missed.
This week also marks the beginning of my new, weekly column at VillageVoice.com, “Click Me.” The first piece, up today, is an intro to the idea of sex advice for the digital age. In the future, you can expect to see first-hand stories, Q & A’s, and how-to’s all revolving around cybersex, so remember to check back every Thursday!
Finally, up yesterday was my Joystiq column, “Going Head to Head in Bed,” which took a few moments out from the Second-Life bashing we’ve been talking about all week to look at sex games and “conflict.” To tell the truth, the piece is actually a warm-up for a presentation I’m giving next week here at school as part of a small conference called “Games, Conflict, Simulation.” Among those also presenting will be Alex Galloway, Eddo Stern, and McKenzie Wark, all of whom, it makes me smile to know, will be forced to sit through my slides of a virtual Jenna invaded with virtual corn. Ah, academia…

For Pete’s Sake, I was going to write an article about that, except of course my writing skill sucks.
I totally have been wondering for like 6 months, since you first started reviewing VJ, where’s the conflict? I think that is the killer of most ’sex’ games. There’s no conflict, there’s no persuit, no buildup. So how can there be a climax without these?
Take RE4 for example. If you started the game fighting Salizar, there would be satisfaction from kicking the crap out of his ass.

Coldstone, you’re 100% right! Then again, of course I think so, since that’s going to be the point of my talk :). Glad to know I’m not alone…
