I have gone completely insane. More specifically, I have gone completely insane over video-game cakes. What started as an innocent interest in gamers making cakes to express (and ingest) their fandom has officially turned into an all night game cake round-up. What games get most commonly made into cakes? For what occasions? With what food substances? How does it feel do eat your favorite character’s face? Well, how does it feel?!
I’ve decided, in my newly-discovered mania, that this investigation requires the foundation of a careful science, the anthropology of game cakes, if you will. (Yes, I really have cracked.) So, in the name of cultural investigation, I’ve started composing mosiacs of game cakes–36 at a time — and posting them to Flickr. The first two can be found here and here. If you know of a game cake not included in these images, please leave a link in the comments section. Please, please, please. No cake can be left unturned. I must document all cakes!
Check back Thursday for a link to my Playing Dirty column at Joystiq, which will, surprise surprise, be dedicated this week to understanding game cakes and the consumption of fandom. Hopefully by then I’ll be sane.

I don’t recall ever saying, “These cakes are delicious.” However, I was stark raving mad for a while, so who knows what came out.

This just in: more cakes today at Joystiq. They’re being added to the list for the next 36-image mosiac.

Mmmm, good motherboard *crunch*, what was that!
The CPU.
Are you batty!? Why would you bake a CPU into a NDS cake?
I take my cakes seriously.
Oh god, the silicon is cutting my throat!
(I can see the insanifying effect these confections can have.)
