Why see Montreal when you can spend the day touring cool local video game studios?  (Okay, we stayed in town longer to do that first thing, too).  Invest Quebec was nice enough to organize a field trip–no permission slip necessary–for the press junket on Friday, so we made it inside Ubisoft Montreal, A2M, EA Montreal, and Autodesk.

The thing that really struck me was the size of the development teams.  Ten people, that I can wrap my mind around.  Three hundred?  Call me silly, but I guess I never really thought about the man power behind the big titles.  It’s kind of like the birds and the bees.  Mommy, where do games come from?

One thing you do not get is that Nintendo is a Japanese based company, look at the history of Japan. Starting from the fuedal years women were seen not heard, only recently has this changed. there still is a little bit of the old fuedal view in them, such as before Japan’s new boy prince was born, the government was thinking of placing a daughter in the ruling place; but this was not done historically unless done by takeover. So instead the government had decided to place one of the sons of the emporers brother instead. But the emperor had a son so that was all solved, you have to understand that Japan is a different place, they believe in honoring tradition alot. You also have to understand that the owner of Nintendo being Japanese (in hence, living on the other side of the world) all he understands of American women is what they get on T.V. and a show that is big their right now…. Sex and The City. Remember, they get a different idea of the United States because they have not lived here long enouph to understand what it is like here. Many of them also think the U.S. is a dangerous place to live because of the C.S.I. shows, all they see is what they get on T.V.
I understand how some of you feel, but try seeing things from thier point of veiw.
