Huh, I never thought about that before, the bottom curve of a face. Interesting, because that part of the ethnic Japanese look can also be found in anime design, whereas as anime characters, with their large eyes, light hair,etc., are traditionally considered to be rendered after an aesthetic of western figures. I wonder though, would the particular “shape of the face” be so attractive to you if American women had it too? Of course, to each his own, but perhaps what makes that feature so striking is its uniqueness, how exotic it seems in contrast to the norm that surrounds which surrounds us… ?

If you were to ask me why I found Asian women attractive, I would have to say that, for me, it’s the shape of the face. Something about how the lower half of the face conforms into a gentle ‘v’ I find irresistable. So, for me, it has nothing to do with Japan’s gaming industry (though I find _that_ fairly attractive too. XD)

I don’t think it’s as simple as ignorance though. I mean, that’s the problem with booth babes in general, but there’s something else here, something in their Japanese-ness that makes them more attractive, and, perhaps, specifically more attractive to gamers. Why exactly are “Asian chix” so hot, and how does that relate to Japan as the video game land of milk-and-honey (in the mind of gamers)?

Just some things to think about it. I recently worked on an ethnography of video gamer perceptions of Japan, so these issues are still bouncing about in my mind.
